Check Kitsap County ZIP Codes

Postal labels do not follow every city, county, tribal, or community line in Kitsap County, Washington. Use the Kitsap County ZIP code directory to narrow a place, then confirm the exact street through postal and county tools. A familiar town name may describe mail service while a county map places the property in another service area. Military, federal, island, and small-community addresses need extra care. Search by a complete address when possible, preserve the returned postal wording, and keep that result separate from any claim about who lives there.

Kitsap County ZIP Coverage

This working crosswalk comes from official county place names and the USPS ZIP Code Lookup workflow. It is a search aid, not a fixed declaration that every address uses the same code on every date. Verify each current address through USPS By Address. The post-office column below describes the postal label or special context found in research, not a confirmed station name.

No official ZIP split or realignment history was found in the inspected sources. Avoid supplying one. Date the lookup instead, since postal data and local boundaries can change.

Kitsap County ZIP Lookup Fields

USPS provides three useful paths. By Address is the strongest check for a current street. By City and State finds codes tied to a postal place. Cities by ZIP returns the delivery labels associated with a code. None of these methods identifies an occupant.

USPS pathRequired detailsOptional detailsResult use
By AddressStreet, city, stateCompany, apartment or suite, ZIPConfirm ZIP or ZIP+4 and address match
By City and StateCity and stateNone documentedFind codes associated with a postal city
Cities by ZIPZIPNone documentedCheck city labels used for delivery

Copy the result as returned and note the date. A historical city directory may use an older postal label. Preserve that label in the citation, then add the current USPS result as a separate crosswalk.

Note: A USPS match confirms postal coding and deliverability, not a resident, owner, municipal boundary, or county jurisdiction.

Kitsap County Postal City Mismatches

Kitsap is a peninsula-and-island county with overlapping labels. Bremerton, Port Orchard, Poulsbo, Bainbridge Island, Kingston, Hansville, Seabeck, Suquamish, and Port Gamble can appear as postal places, map bookmarks, historic directory labels, or municipal and county jurisdictions. Those labels answer different questions.

The county comprehensive map shows city limits, urban growth areas, tribal and reservation areas, ferry routes, and named subareas. A Bremerton mailing label may need a city-limit check. Suquamish requires tribal and community context to remain distinct from county tax geography. Port Gamble's historic name should not be erased by a modern code.

Kitsap County ZIP Map Bookmarks

The county GIS offers community bookmarks for Hansville, Port Gamble, Kingston, Suquamish, Silverdale, and other named areas. A bookmark is a fast way to move the map near an address. It is not an official neighborhood boundary and does not show membership in a community group.

After opening the area, select the parcel and inspect its site and mailing addresses. The table view can expose tax account fields, sales history, splits and merges, voting districts, and permit links. Compare those facts with the USPS result. If the city labels differ, retain both and explain which source supplied each.

This geographic cross-check is especially useful for Burley, Retsil, South Colby, Tracyton, Indianola, Keyport, and other labels that may not behave like incorporated city names.

Kitsap County Special ZIP Context

Codes tied to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard or Bangor area need care. Federal or military delivery practices may differ from ordinary street delivery, and a postal result does not establish access to a facility or the identity of any person. Keyport may also involve specialized or PO-box service. Verify the exact address rather than classifying the full code from one example.

The same restraint applies to small postal labels such as Retsil and South Colby. Research identified them as working crosswalk entries, but did not establish that either is always PO-box-only. State what the current USPS result shows. Do not turn a caution into a fact.

ZIP code
A USPS delivery code. It is not a city or county boundary.
ZIP+4
Four added digits that improve delivery precision for an address or delivery segment.
PO-box ZIP
A code used for post-office boxes; confirm this status through the current USPS result.
Unique ZIP
A code assigned to one large organization or facility.
Carrier route
A postal delivery grouping, not a public list of residents.

Kitsap County ZIP Voter Limits

VoteWA is a registrant self-service profile, not a public directory searchable by any person's ZIP. It requires the registrant's first name, last name, and full date of birth. Public voter data follows a different route through Kitsap Elections and requires a signed noncommercial-use affidavit.

County GIS voting districts can help explain a parcel's precinct or district on the date checked. They do not establish that a named person resides on the parcel. Washington's Address Confidentiality Program may substitute a protected address in covered records, so any ZIP-based publication must respect confidential fields and avoid exposing a protected location.

Note: Keep an election-district label separate from a postal code, since each system has its own purpose, date, and boundary.

Kitsap County ZIP Address Changes

Kitsap address corrections can change a road name or number sequence while leaving the parcel's legal status unchanged. A no-result under today's spelling does not show that the place never existed. Retry the street without a house number, review county address-correction material, and use the parcel number or legal description when available.

Historical directories should be cited with the original address and postal label exactly as printed. Add the modern ZIP crosswalk in a new note. That practice prevents a current label from being projected backward into an era when the route, city name, or number differed.

Cite a Kitsap County ZIP Crosswalk

A reproducible ZIP code directory result names the source, method, input, output, and date. Save the full street used in USPS, the returned city and code, the parcel number from county GIS, and the jurisdiction labels visible on the map. Mark the conclusion as postal, parcel, or contextual.

  • USPS lookup path and verification date
  • Address spelling and unit information entered
  • Returned city, state, ZIP, and ZIP+4
  • County parcel or account number
  • Site address and mailing address as separate fields
  • City-limit, community, or tribal map context

If nothing appears, write “not located in the searched official source” and state the fields used. Then name the next route. A precise negative result is more useful than a broad claim that an address or code does not exist.
